In this example I am experimenting with the scale settings of the RT-311 swarm oscillator. The „swarm“ itself is not in use in this example – I am using the oscillators like two single oscillators. The LFO, that controls the pitch input, controls the cutoff frequency of the RT-451 multimode filter in the sawtooth section of this demo (starts at the half of the file). Setting the modulation depth of both filters in opposite direction creates this stereo animation.
At the end I am deactivating the scale quantizer so you can hear, what the oscillator would sound like without the quantizer.
I am using the tape delay setting of the soundcraft mtk mixer and feed the echo signal into the reverb fx of the second fx processor.

Radikal Technologies bietet seit 2015 die ersten Eurorack Modular kompatiblen Module an. Der erste Baustein dieser Reihe ist das RT451 Multimode Filter.
Ich habe dieser Tage eine kleine Demo für das RT451 Multimode Filter erstellt. Anbei die entsprechende Audio Datei.
Alle Drumsounds im Hintergrund haben eines gemeinsam – sie wurden mit Hilfe des RT 451 Multimode Filters erstellt und anschliessend für die Verwendung im Spectralis verarbeitet. Der Spectralis Stepsequencer spielt nicht nur die Synthesizer Stimme mit dem RT451 Filter an, sondern steuert auch die drumgrooves bei. Eine Linie des Spectralis Step Sequencer wurde MIDI Noten zugeordnet. Per MIDI wurde das A-190-4 MIDI Interface an den Spectralis MIDI Ausgang angeschlossen. Damit die Sequenz nicht zu langweilig wird, habe ich einige Schritte mit einer niedrigen Wahrscheinlichkeit (Probability) versehen – sie werden dann nicht bei jedem Durchlauf angespielt. Die Filterbewegungen wurden mit einem Human Controller direkt an den Reglern des RT451 ausgeführt.
Die Tonhöhe des ersten der beiden Oszillatoren habe ich ganz leicht mit dem LFO moduliert. Dabei ist die Geschwindigkeit sehr langsam eingestellt. Dadurch driften die Oszillatoren leicht auseinander und kommen wieder zusammen. Weitere Lebendigkeit habe ich beim zweiten Oszillator per PWM erzielt.
Die beiden Oszillatoren werden zunächst mit dem Mixer zusammengemischt und anschliessend in das Filter eingespeist. Das Filter wird von zwei Steuerspannungen moduliert. Erste Modulationsquelle ist die Hüllkurve und die zweite die Tonhöhe. Das Tastaturscaling habe ich negativ eingestellt – so wird das Filter für tiefe Noten weiter geöffnet als für hohe.
Hinter dem Filter durchläuft das Signal einen der beiden VCAs. Als Echo kommt das eingebaute Delay des Yamaha 01v Pultes zum Einsatz.
